Abstract:

Objective: The aim of the current study is to verify the psychometric properties of the Career Awareness Scale (CAS) among university students. The items used in this scale were translated into Arabic to achieve the goals of the study and reflect the context of the study environment being investigated. Methods: The student Career Awareness Scale (CAS) to be used in the study was prepared Ibrahim, Wambiya, Aloka, and Raburu and consisted of 19 items which were applied to a sample of 556 university students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The students’ ages ranged from between 19-22 years of age. Results:  The results of the confirmatory factor analysis indicated that all items of the scale are saturated with one factor that together explains 100% of the total variance. The measure of students’ vocational awareness matched the data of the study sample well, as all values of the scale appeared in the ideal range. The chi-square value was 12249, which is a statistically significant value and has 12 degrees of freedom, and the Arabized form of the scale had acceptable psychometric properties. All data were statistically significant at the 0.01 level, with correlation coefficient values ranging between 0.6200.0725. These values are important and indicate that all paragraphs are related to each other as a whole. The Cronbach's alpha internal consistency reliability value for the Arabic version of the Students' Career Awareness Scale (CAS) was 0.93, which is an appropriate value.
