Abstract:
This longitudinal study explores the association between childhood adversity and adult psychopathology. Childhood adversity, including abuse, neglect, and family dysfunction, was assessed, and adult psychopathology outcomes were evaluated using standardized criteria. Results show a robust link between childhood adversity and various mental health disorders in adulthood. Mediating factors, such as social support and resilience, buffer the adverse effects. The study highlights the importance of early interventions and support systems in mitigating long-term mental health outcomes. These findings inform targeted preventive interventions for individuals exposed to childhood adversity.
